Koby Jones is the founder, AFSL Responsible Manager and Group Managing Director of The SILC Group. He is is responsible for driving the growth of the business, setting strategic direction, risk management and business development activities of The SILC Group alongside the leadership team.

Prior to establishing The SILC Group, Koby enjoyed a highly successful career in global financial markets and private wealth management with major financial institutions Westpac Banking Corporation, Australia and New Zealand Banking Group, National Australia Bank and Wilson HTM Investment Group.

He holds numerous qualifications including the Australian Institute of Company Directors (ACID) Course, Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA) Program, a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting, Commercial Law, Finance) through Deakin University, Diploma in Financial Advising from the Securities Institute of Australia (now Kaplan Professional), and Advanced Certificate in Management Skills from RMIT; as well as having various industry certifications which include the Margin Lending Accreditation Program, Accredited Derivatives Adviser (Level 1), and Diploma of Financial Services from the Australian Financial Markets Association (AFMA).

Koby is an active investor in alternative assets including venture capital, private equity, private credit and property development. He is also on the Board of Directors at the Northern Health Foundation, is a Director of the SILC Philanthropic Foundation, and is a member of Family Business Australia (FBA), the AICD and CPA Australia.

Michelle Tay is the Group Executive Director, AFSL Responsible Manager and Head of Group Services at The SILC Group. Her key responsibilities encompasses oversight of the company’s financial management, taxation and regulatory compliance, and operational risk management as well as investor relations and communication.

Michelle is an experienced banking and finance executive, with particular experience in syndicated corporate and structured financing, agency services and corporate management. During her tenure at the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group, she managed a portfolio of large complex syndicated corporate and structured finance transactions across multiple industries and geographies. She also has extensive experience in business and corporate banking, property development financing and corporate management across all areas of business operations, financial management and taxation and regulatory compliance.

She holds various qualifications including the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) course, Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA) Program, Masters of Applied Finance through the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (now KAPLAN Professional) and Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Finance) through Monash University.

She is Chairwoman of the SILC Philanthropic Foundation and is also a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), CPA Australia and Family Business Australia (FBA).

Camila Coelho is Senior Associate, Portfolio Solutions at The SILC Group. Her main responsibilities include fund administration and operations, investor relations and communications. She is also responsible for internal project management.

Camila has almost 10 years of experience working with alternative investments, with a focus on real estate and loan portfolios. Her previous experience includes major independent asset management groups and securities companies in Brazil, where she was responsible for asset management, modelling, pricing, negotiation, and deal structuring. She also worked at Philip Morris International as part of the Latin America and Canada Operations Finance Team in Mexico.

Camila graduated with a Bachelor of Economics from Fundacao Getulio Vargas in Brazil.

Jeff Feng is an Associate Director at The SILC Group with a particular focus on the Chinese market. His main activities include transaction services support on corporate advisory transactions, as well as developing and fostering relationships with key Chinese partners and clients for ventures and investments into businesses, vendors, projects and assets globally.

Jeff started his career at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) before moving to Shenwan Hongyuan Securities Company, one of the largest listed securities companies in China. As a manager in their investment banking division, Jeff was involved in a variety of activities including corporate advisory, mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings (Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges), and private placements. His main responsibilities involve strategic business planning, project development and management, stakeholder communications and development, and to provide strategic oversight of operational and financial functions, conducting due diligence and analysis to multiple projects as well as dealing with various regulatory bodies including the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) and National Equities Exchange and Quotations (NEEQ).

Jeff holds various qualifications including a Bachelor of Commerce through the University of Melbourne and Master of Applied Finance through Monash University.

James Hill is the Head of Digital Solutions at The SILC Group, and spearheads the stakeholder engagement, product development, strategic initiatives and projects of our digital alternative assets investment platform. He is responsible for enhancing and revolutionising the way we collaborate and partner with investment managers, asset sponsors and wholesale investors through technology, innovation and product delivery.

James is an experienced senior executive with more than 20 years’ experience gained in pivotal technology and operational roles for large iconic companies such as iiNet, Asgard (Westpac), TSA (Telstra) as well as CEO & Chairman of IT consulting company Bluebox Solutions. More recently James was CEO of Ettle, which pioneered the very first ever wage payment using an Australian Dollar stablecoin on the blockchain.

James has a unique combination of C-suite executive experience and innovative technology start-up expertise. As a financial services and technology executive, James has led large teams and served on company Boards delivering operational strategy, project implementation, digital strategy, financial management and product development.

James holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Murdoch University.

Kristen Hood is Manager, Fund Accounting and Administration at The SILC Group. Her main responsibilities include the preparation of fund management accounts for all funds managed by The SILC Group and fund administrative support.

Kristen started her career at Ernst & Young in the Audit division providing audit and assurance services to clients in the Financial Services industry, before moving into the Financial Services industry as Fund Accountant for Colonial First State. At Colonial First State, Kristen was responsible for the administration and accounting for the company’s various Managed Funds.

Kristen has also held a number of positions at JBWere Limited including Capital Markets Accountant and Group Accountant. As the Capital Markets Accountant, Kristen undertook the preparation of the company accounts for JBWere Capital Markets and its six subsidiaries. Kristen was then promoted to the role of Group Accountant, reporting directly to the CFO and Head of the Treasury. In her capacity as Group Accountant, Kristen was responsible for the preparation of company accounts of Were Stockbroking and the full consolidated accounts for the JBWere Group at financial year end.

Kristen holds various qualifications including a Bachelor of Commerce through the University of Melbourne and the Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA) Program.

James Jones is the Head of Information Technology at The SILC Group. He is responsible for ensuring technology is well placed to support the existing business operations, as well as future growth opportunities. Additionally, he will lead and shape the IT capability within the Digital Solutions business unit.

James has over 15 years of experience leading IT functions. Most recently he was the Chief Technology Officer of an Australian Web3 start-up that completed Australia’s first contractor payment with a fiat backed stable coin. He has extensive experience in using information technology to both internally support organisations and in building innovative fintech products. He has been a front-line manager for technical disciplines including cloud engineering, database administration and engineering, DevOps, information security, operations, delivery, incident development and management. James has extensive experience in highly regulated and compliant technology environments, and brings a cybersecurity first approach to the application of technology.

He holds a number of qualifications including a double Masters of Business Administration and Information Systems Management from Swinburne University of Technology, and a Bachelor of Information Technology from Southern Cross University.

Olivia Jones is an Associate, Portfolio Solutions at The SILC Group focusing on the fund and investment administration functions. Her main responsibilities involve investor onboarding, payment preparation, distribution processing and marketing.

Olivia joined The SILC Group in 2021 as an intern where she developed knowledge and skills across various functions within the Portfolio Solutions team. Olivia’s experience gave her valuable understanding of the business and allowed her to progress within The SILC Group, becoming an Associate under the Portfolio Solutions team.

She also provides administrative support in relation to the SILC Philanthropic Foundation.

Olivia is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Property and Real Estate/bachelor of Construction Management (Honours) at Deakin University.

Daryl Koch is the Governance and Assurance Advisor at The SILC Group providing guidance with respect to risk and compliance, and managing the assurance program across the group’s business units.

He has a varied background in Risk Management for over 30 years, with his previous roles including Foreign Exchange Trading and Advisory, Interest Rate Risk Management, Derivative Structuring and Synthetic Debt Structuring which included advisory to Institutional, Corporate and Commercial clients. Daryl’s most recent role was Head of Assurance (Australia) for the Markets Operations Unit of a major Australian Trading Bank which involved Operational Risk and Regulatory Compliance for that business.

Daryl is also experienced in the Not-for-Profit (NFP) sector which includes being past Chair of the Victorian Chapter of the Finance and Treasury Association, past Board Member of a Melbourne Private Member’s Club, past Deputy Chair of the Disciplinary Tribunal of the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA), immediate past President of the Victorian Divisional Council of the IPA and current member of its Accounting Faculty.

He is also currently Board Director of the Australian SME Alliance Ltd, a Fellow of the IPA, Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia, a Fellow of the Finance and Treasury Association, and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Yan Yi Liew is an Associate within the Portfolio Solutions division at The SILC Group assisting with the management of a portfolio of investment manager relationships and funds. Her responsibilities involve investment manager onboarding, facilitating fund investments, creating and curating marketing content, as well as supporting fund establishment and business development activities.

Yan Yi Liew joined The SILC Group at the start of 2023 following her time at Nestlé as a Key Account Intern. Within the organisation, she strengthened commercial partnerships and provided strategic management to various accounts. She communicated and worked closely with customers on upcoming events to ensure operations are carried out efficiently and effectively, and has strongly developed time, project management and communication skills.

Yan Yi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Commerce from Monash University.

Lessi Liu is a Manager within the Portfolio Solutions division at The SILC Group. She is responsible for managing a portfolio of investment manager relationships and works closely with clients to comprehensively structure and establish suitably tailored funds as well as overseeing and attending to ongoing administrative activities.

Prior to joining The SILC Group, Lessi spent five years serving institutional funds management clients and covering a range of strategies including multi-asset, fixed income and private credit. She is experienced in all facets of portfolio construction and management including assisting clients with defining investment objectives and investment universe, formulating portfolio strategy, constructing portfolio through asset allocation and investment selection as well as ongoing portfolio management. With her actuarial background, she also has deep mathematical and technical knowledge in financial and credit risk modelling, unlisted asset valuation, portfolio optimisation and performance analytics.

She is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder and holds Bachelor of Commerce degree from University of Melbourne (Actuarial Studies / Statistics and Finance). She is also an alumni of London School of Economics (Macroeconomics) and University of California Berkeley (Entrepreneurship).

Jeannie Looi is a Senior Fund Accountant at The SILC Group with her key responsibilities including fund accounting, financial analysis and reporting, and tax regulatory compliance.

Jeannie has more than 20 years of experience working with leading unit trust funds and asset management companies for banking and financial institutions in Malaysia including Muamalat Invest, RHB Asset Management, CIMB Principal Asset Management, CIMB Wealth Advisors and Public Mutual. Her previous experience includes registered retail funds and wholesale funds, as well as private mandates where she was responsible for fund accounting, operational functions, managing fund accounts, statutory reporting of registered funds, annual audit and taxation of the funds. She also assisted in monitoring the registered funds to ensure in compliance with regulations in Malaysia.

Jeannie holds a Graduate Diploma in Accounting from University of Abertay Dundee (now known as Abertay University) in Scotland.

Anushree Maloo is a Senior Associate at The SILC Group focusing primarily on fund accounting and account receivable activities. Her responsibilities also include transaction reconciliations and analysis, preparing payments, lodging tax and other related activities.

Anushree has approximately 3 years of experience in financial services previously working with a leading financial services firm in India.

Anushree holds a Certified Management Accountant (CMA, US) qualification. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and finance from University of Mumbai. Currently, she is pursuing her Master of Management (Accounting and Finance) from University of Melbourne.

Sergio Leal

Sergio Leal is a Technical Business Analyst currently contributing his expertise to The SILC Group. In this pivotal role, Sergio adeptly bridges the interface between business operations and technology, orchestrating precision in requirements gathering, gap analysis, and systems implementation.

With a professional history spanning over a decade, Sergio has been a strategic influencer in business process optimisation, software development, project management, and data analysis within diverse sectors, including banking, treasury, telecommunications, and government. Notably, during his tenure at PwC in Australia, Sergio led the successful deployment of an automation tool, revolutionising the calculation of tax returns.

Sergio holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Rosario University in Colombia and a Master’s in Business Information Systems from Monash University in Australia.

Philip Pezzi is Head of Property Solutions at The SILC Group providing advisory, structuring, arranging and management solutions to clients within the property sector.

Philip is an experienced banking and financial services executive with over 25 years experience in both Australian and international markets, having held senior executives roles with National Australia Bank, ANZ Bank and Citigroup largely focusing on driving business growth and profitability across Australian, Asian and US markets.

Until recently, Philip was also the Founder and Group Managing Director of Lachlan Partners which he developed and oversaw until it was sold to IOOF (as part of the Shadforth group) in August 2014. He has a very impressive history and extensive experience of building high growth and enduring businesses, in particular servicing private business owners, entrepreneurs, families and high net worth individuals.

Philip holds a Bachelor of Business majoring in Accounting and Tax, and has completed management and finance programs with the Macquarie Graduate School of Management and the Melbourne Business School, and is a member of Chartered Accountants – Australia & New Zealand.

Jen Tan is a Manager, within the Portfolio Solutions divisions at The SILC Group. She is responsible for managing a portfolio of investment manager relationships & works closely with clients to comprehensively structure and establish suitably tailored funds as well as overseeing and attending to ongoing administrative activities.

Jen joined The SILC Group in 2021 after 3 years with TAEL Partners, a South-east asia based growth private equity fund manager where she served as Associate in the investor relations team. Here, her responsibilities spanned capital fundraising and fund portfolio monitoring. Prior to TAEL, Jen was involved in community fundraising at the Dane County, Wisconsin chapter of United Way Worldwide where she conducted workplace campaigns and raised funds from Madison’s corporate community.

Jen graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Anna Blake is a Senior Fund Accountant within The SILC Group. Her role encompasses fund accounting, financial reporting and fund administration support for several funds managed by the Group.

Anna is a Chartered Accountant with over 17 years of experience working in the financial services sector in Australia and the United Kingdom. Before joining SILC Group, she worked for top-tier financial institutions, including Investec Plc, Royal Bank of Scotland and Fortis Bank, focusing on fund of fund hedge funds, private equity and property funds.

Anna holds a Bachelor of Business degree (Accounting and Law) from Swinburne University of Technology. She is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).

Advisory Board

Ben Cohen is an Advisory Board Member of The SILC Group providing guidance, direction and oversight into the overall group strategy and development of the business.

Ben has extensive Board and Senior Executive experience in Financial Services, Manufacturing Corporations, Not-For-Profit, Education and Entrepreneurial organisations. His experience includes Mergers & Acquisitions, Corporate Finance, Banking, IT, Accounting & Manufacturing.

Ben is currently a Board Member of the Swinburne University of Technology and is a Member of its Finance Committee and is Chair of the Campus Planning Committee; Chairman of The Uniting Church in Australia Synod of Victoria and Tasmania Finance Committee; Member of the Certification Council Bureau Veritas Quality International; and Managing Director of Quantum Change Consultants.

Some of his previous Directorships included being National Councillor and Victorian State President for CPA Australia; the Methodist Ladies College; cvMail; Elders Finance and Potter Warburg.

Senior Executive positions he held included being Chief Executive Officer of cvMail; Director of Finance and Administration at leading Australasian Investment Bank Potter Warburg (subsequently UBS); Director of Elders Finance Group (EFG) which was then the largest Merchant Bank in Australia; Director of the Australian Continuous Improvement Group (the Australian arm of Cap Gemini); and a Group Financial Controller at ICI Australia (now Orica Ltd).

Ben is a Fellow of CPA Australia (FCPA) and he holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from the University of New South Wales.

Roland Matrenza is an Advisory Board Member of The SILC Group being involved at a strategic level into the business model and value proposition.Roland’s Banking and Financial services career spans more than 40 years having held a number of Senior Executive roles at the National Australia Bank Group. Roland’s responsibilities encompassed Group strategy development and strategic planning, Group capital policy and management and investment prioritisation, mergers , acquisitions and divestments, Group performance management , investor relations and government relations, Group corporate affairs and communications, Group program office and strategic portfolio analysis, economics and research, transformational change management and business development and sponsorship of new ventures.As a Group EGM and a member of the Group Executive Committee, Roland also sat on a number of group decision making and steering committees including Group Capital & Asset and Liability (ALCO), Group Risk Policy, Board and Management Lending Committee, Group Strategy Committee, People Assessment and Talent panel, Wealth Management, E-Commerce and Technology and the Strategic Projects’ Assessment Committee. Roland also served on several Banking Industry committees and was a past Chairman of the Australian Bankers Association Executive Committee.Roland has considerable directorship and governance experience as a Group Executive and an Executive Director/Chairman on numerous wholly owned NAB subsidiaries in Australia, UK, Ireland and New Zealand Operations comprising commercial banks, superannuation and trustee boards, insurance, credit card, leasing, nominee services, custodial services, funds administration services and health funds processing and administration and the Banking Ombudsman.Roland’s previous Executive roles included:

Roland holds an MBA from the Melbourne Business School, and Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne. He is a Fellow of the AICD and FINSIA and is a graduate of the Transformational Leadership course from the Darden Graduate School of Business, University of Virginia.

Bryan Waters is an Advisory Board Member of The SILC Group and includes involvement in the implementation of the vision and business development of the operations.

He has over 30 years’ experience at Senior Executive and board level in the financial services industry, followed by 15 years in Leadership and Management Consulting providing career direction, coaching and business support to many leading Melbourne based executives and managers. He commenced his career with the National Australia Bank serving in various senior roles in Australia, United States, UK and Asia which culminated into Senior Executive appointments within the bank’s Melbourne headquarters. Bryan then moved to the Bank of Melbourne following its conversion from a building society to a full banking licence where he was Executive Director and Chief General Manager for Banking.

Bryan has held several non-executive board positions which complements his extensive business experience, and included Chairman of a small Private Equity firm, taking a start up to IPO and merging that company with AAV Ltd (now Staging Connections Group Limited; an ASX Listed company). His current involvements include an Executive Director role in a beverage export industry, contracting consultant to Talent2 and Non Executive Director of Staging Connections Group Limited.

Bryan is Governor of the American Chamber of Commerce in Australia, is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia, and Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors; and he has an accreditation in MRG Leadership LEA and Personal Directors, Diploma of Business (RMIT) and Advanced Management Program from the University of NSW.
